Notes from Barcelona Design Congress 2020
Last week, took place during October's first week, Barcelona Design Congress 2020, event that this year has Sweden a guest country, i was focused heavily in Interaction Design and Service Design als main topics. Below are the main idees we took from each speaker:
Caroline Hummels
Professor de Design Theory of Intelligent Systems in the Eindhoven University of Technology, beguen la conferència amb una excel·lent exposició, demandant el retorn a la philosophy amb una phenomenological approach, per la qual cosa es crea in interacció.
Pointing some principles of the philosopher Maurice Merleau-Ponty, design is about embodiment, skills and cultural world. From a body perspective to change our behaviour and come with a natural approach. We need to avoid our current cartesian perspective, changing from efficiency to behaviour and respect.
Opening up abstract to sensorial with a first person perspective, research through design.
Tapi Hakanen
“There's ring in the hell where sound designers expiate their sins by creating ringtones forever and ever”.
Seems that there's also skeuomorphism on sound design.
Christopher Grant
Design Lead at Tuenti, explained a un pur story telling style, el New Tuenti redesign processes i histories, where mobile “is the boss”, i com drafting statement of intent i producte definició first, can drive design decisions with a close reading. Als he explained no només l'importància de la bona design process, però l'importància per explair el design a les managers and stakeholders.
Adam Roberts
Research and Vision Manager of Samsung Design Europe, Stated New Design Vision at Samsung, where since 2011, Company és focused creating meaningful products, no sobre ha technology and features, standing out easy smart, harmony and nature, as values.
Gerry Dufresne
Range Strategist in IKEA, posseïa el principal company principal de la geganta, per affordability and democratic design a key values, i com a més aspecte dels designs process, entre la seva idea a la packaging, és important: “IKEA never ships air”.
Thomas Eriksson
Manager and Chief Architect at TEA and Senior partner en Stockholm Design LabTea, displayen moltes examples de la seva minimal and elegant work, where the aim is to be invisible (quoting Bruce Mau's words) and standing out being in silence, no yelling.
Elin Ankerblad
Cofounder of Doberman, performed a la motivació d'introducció a la Service Design discipline, pointing again on local culture as key differential factor, as other speakers.
Jones Pettersson and John Löfgren
Cofounders of the design studio Form Us With Love, explained the first experiences company and their design vision that this company should follow, summarized in brilliant scheme called the “design stair”: where an organization grows from no design to design as culture.

Notícia que tots els espectadors structured les seves paraules, amb una variació diferent, amb la mateixa filosofia: design as a process, something that design community around this lands is apparently not yet transmitting to the rest of the world. Question is, whatever is your expertise, what is your design approach? From the surface or from the structure?
